Warn Blunt to call this off or else his daughter will pay the price

“You don’t even have a daughter,” Black said, “which is what makes this all that much more absurd.”

Blunt chuckled. “Right, of course. She’s just trying to do whatever she can to rattle my cage. But it’s just pure nonsense. I’m sufficiently rattled and more than focused on bringing her to justice, one way or another.”

“That’s what I thought,” Black said. “But just wanted to make sure you knew about it.”

Black stood and walked toward the door, stopping next to Blunt.

“Want me to toss that for you?” Black asked.

“No, I’ll hold onto it,” Blunt said. “Maybe I’ll get someone to analyze the handwriting and go over it for prints.”

“Good idea, sir,” Black said before exiting the conference room.

Blunt lumbered down to his office and then shut the door. He pulled out his cell phone and dialed a number.

“Elizabeth, we need to talk,” he said.

“What’s wrong?” Elizabeth asked. “You sound so serious.”

“I am serious because we have a big problem.”

“What kind of problem?”

“It’s about Stephanie,” Blunt said. “She’s in grave danger.”
